I had a lovely stay at this resort right on the beach. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant time. While the bungalow was pretty basic and needed some updates, the view was nice, and the location was perfect for long beach walks. Unfortunately, we had some cleanliness issues that dampened our experience, but overall, it was a pretty good value for the money.

The bungalow was quite basic and needed some maintenance, but it offered a nice garden view. Unfortunately, the cleanliness left much to be desired.

The staff was so friendly and helpful; they even walked us through a map of the best spots on the island. Their warm hospitality really stood out.

The location was fantastic, being right next to a beautiful beach and just a short walk from the pier. It made it really convenient for exploring.
Dining

The food was delicious, and the chef was genuinely interested in our enjoyment of the meals. However, the menu could benefit from a wider variety of options.

The resort had some nice amenities, but I think the place would truly benefit from some upgrades to feel more modern.

This resort has a stunning beach and a helpful reception staff, but unfortunately, the accommodations left much to be desired. The rooms are quite basic and do not live up to the luxury branding, and we found the dining experience to be subpar at times. While the location is great for snorkeling, the lack of air conditioning made our nights uncomfortable. Overall, it's a mixed bag with some beautiful aspects and several drawbacks.

Rooms
5.0
The bungalows are very basic and dark, with limited lighting and one power outlet. The lack of air conditioning was a major downside, especially given the heat at night.
Service
7.0
The reception staff was excellent, providing us with a comprehensive map of the area and suggestions for activities, but help with room issues was lacking.
Location
8.0
While the resort has its own beautiful beach for snorkeling, it's a bit far from Sairee village, making evening outings a chore unless you're up for a longer walk.
Dining

We had mixed experiences with the dining; while some meals were fine, we encountered cleanliness issues that were concerning.
Facilities

The resort’s facilities are basic and not well-maintained, lacking the amenities one might expect for the price.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at this resort. The location is beautiful, close to the beach with a really chill atmosphere, but the room left a lot to be desired in terms of comfort. The staff were lovely and helpful, making our experience a bit better. However, the dining options were pretty disappointing and the accommodations were quite basic for the price we paid.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were charmingly rustic but felt quite basic and dark, lacking proper lighting. The absence of air conditioning made it uncomfortably hot at night, which affected my sleep.
Service
8.0
The staff were kind and attentive, with one particularly fantastic lady at reception who provided helpful tips and support during our stay.
Location
9.0
The location is ideal for those wanting a calming retreat, just a short walk from the pier and giving easy access to the beach.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was somewhat disappointing; the restaurant had limited choices and the food quality was not great, as evidenced by the cockroach we found.
Facilities
6.0
The overall facilities were pretty basic, with a beautiful beach but limited amenities that didn't meet the expectations set by the branding of 'rustic luxury.'

The Royal Resort is a lovely place that truly captures the essence of Koh Tao. Its beachfront location is perfect for relaxation, and I enjoyed the unique bungalows surrounded by nature. The staff, particularly Steve, really made my stay memorable with their welcoming atmosphere. However, the accessibility to the resort can be challenging with limited shuttle times, and I had a frustrating experience with the billing process. Overall, it’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the island.

Rooms
7.0
The bungalows have a charming jungle feel, although they can be quite dark. They could use some renovations to bring more light and comfort.
Service
6.0
The service was friendly but at times a bit lacking, especially with staff not fully understanding English. I encountered some issues with billing that were not handled well.
Location
9.0
The resort is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the ferry and positioned perfectly for beach activities like snorkeling. It felt secluded yet conveniently close to the town.
Dining
8.0
Dining options were good, but prices were high compared to other places on the island. I enjoyed a fantastic meal, especially the garlic prawns.
Facilities
7.0
The resort offers a nice pool area, but access can be challenging with the resort layout, and it’s quite a hike to get around.
